Excavation supervision on sites suspected of containing unexploded ordnance
Explosive ordnance sounding is carried out during construction if the recovery of explosive ordnance cannot be achieved with suitable measures prior to demolition work, special civil engineering works and similar construction. This predominately occurs in badly disturbed building terrain. The immediate vicinity of the work site is secured against detonations and working equipment is equipped with anti-splinter protection for the duration of the excavation supervision. The EOD specialist – the person responsible in accordance with the German Explosives Act – is authorised to give orders and has powers of attorney on the construction site. A certificate of freedom from explosive ordnance will only be issued for the inspected area.
